Hesam & Hall Summit Yosemite's Half Dome

On June 26, KCOMM team members Hesam Rasoulzadeh and Hall Roosevelt set off for an arduous hike up to the summit of Yosemite's iconic Half Dome.

4am wake up call and boots to the dirt by 6am sent this pair off for a long jaunt from the valley floor, climbing 4,800 feet in elevation and passing surreal views of rivers, waterfalls and granite walls.
After ascending the infamous "cables," two metal cables that allow hikers to climb the last 400 feet without rock climbing equipment, the two hikers were treated to 360 degree panoramic views of Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra.

17.5 miles, 9,600 feet in elevation change and 10 hours of hiking in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees - this hike was well worth the challenge.

Accepted to Stanford

Brendan Reeves, son of KCOMM Senior Vice President Heather Reeves, will be attending Stanford University in the fall of 2020.

Brendan attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. where he was involved in the Chamber Singers Honors Choir, Model United Nations, Talon Theatre and Campus Ministry programs. With a 4.9 GPA, Brendan is Salutatorian of his graduating Class of 2020 and one of 29 students graduating with a full International Baccalaureate diploma.

Brendan describes his senior year, which was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as "unprecedented, bittersweet and surreal." Although prom and grad night were cancelled, he is currently planning to give a commencement speech at his socially-distanced graduation ceremony at the end of July.

While his college experience will also be impacted by the pandemic, Brendan looks forward to being on campus at Stanford in the fall and beginning his studies in Symbolic Systems (an interdisciplinary degree combining computer science, linguistics, philosophy, and psychology) as well as Music. When asked where he sees himself in ten years, he says, "in a committed relationship and fulfilling career."

Congrats Brendan!
Sinan and Kai's Trip to Zion
Sinan and Kai's Trip to Zion

We took an epic trip to Zion National Park. It's something I would highly recommend your family do during this virus economy. It's a great opportunity to go through the luscious trails where there's waterfalls as well as some of the most iconic canyons in the world.
Zion National Park is driving distance from anywhere in Southern California or the western United States.

It's a breathtaking experience that bonds the family connection with nature and is available all year long.
Maddie's Summer in San Francisco

After more than 21 years of living in Irvine, California, KCOMM team member Maddie was offered an opportunity to live in San Francisco for the summer where she would be able to work remotely and take online summer session classes simultaneously.

Since the pandemic cancelled her plans to study abroad this summer, this opportunity served as a great alternative. Maddie packed up her belongings and traded in SoCal's sunny beaches for the bustling city life in San Francisco, almost 430 miles away from home. She's looking forward to enjoying the rest of her summer in the city!
